Spring Point Through the Roses

Spring Point Through the Roses • 24×24 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I have missed you, but know that Summer has been packed with family, friends, fun, time in and on the water & of course lots of painting despite my lack of posts.  I am beyond grateful to say that my commission work has keeps me busy in the studio most days!  Lots of sweet critters being painted!

I have also had some time to work on some larger pieces which I absolutely love to do.  Here’a piece that I did of Spring Point as seen through the rose bushes at Willard Beach.  This view always takes my breath away!  Hope you like it too.  🙂

Poppy Love

Poppy Love • 5×5 • oil on canvas • $75

Watching plants come to life is so much fun!  Don’t you just love poppies!!!!!!!  Poppy & peony buds really are my favorite … they are so round and full of magic.  I usually sketch out my painting in red paint, but because poppies are red/orange, I opted for a yellow paint sketch & I think it makes for softer edges, which I like.

Intoxicating Lilacs

Intoxicating Lilacs • 6×6 • oil on canvas • $95

We have the most gorgeous lilac bushes outside our house–in fact, they are a very distinguishing feature of our home at this time of year.   They are so established and sit at the corner of our property enveloping us in their fragrance.  Ahhhhh!  The entire neighborhood pauses to smell these beauties.  Lilacs are one of my favorite things about Spring!

Lupines • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

It’s lupine season & I saw soooooo many of them on the 3rd day of the Trek Across Maine.  They were growing wild all along the roads & I just love them … have I mentioned that purple is my favorite color.  🙂

Garden

Garden • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I was riding my bike on Sunday morning in the thick fog & drizzle & was blown away by the colors popping out of this yard on Mitchell Rd.  These azalea bushes were so vibrant when nothing else was … visibility was limited on the roads & along the coast it was zero!  Sometimes these unexpected bursts of color make for the most joyful surprises.

Sunflower Joy

Sunflower Joy • 6×6 oil on canvas • SOLD

We were at a party recently & these gorgeous sunflowers were on display on the deck.  We couldn’t help but admire them & then of course, I had to turn them into a painting, this way they will last forever.  That’s the beauty of floral paintings.  Stay tuned, another one coming tomorrow.
