I don’t know about you, but color makes me happy. The walls in our home pretty much cover all of the colors in the rainbow … a yellow living room, a blue kitchen, a pink hallway, a purple bedroom–you get the picture … and we find that comforting and joyful. When it comes to painting, I love to use bright colors for that same reason. Here’s a little painting with some happy bursts of color. Sending love your way. xox Be well, friends. xox
A friend left these gorgeous flowers for us the other day by Bloomers, a farm driven floral design company here in Portland. I love Shelley’s designs–they make me so happy! And I thought they might make you happy too. We could all use more cheer and more love. So here you go, a virtual hug and these are for you. xoxo
Yesterday got away from me and I forgot to post my Violet painting for the rainbow scavenger hunt. I decided to use this painting of a beautiful beach sunrise from last spring. It’s such a peaceful and hopeful scene and we could all use that right now.
Today’s color is indigo which had me painting more moody night skies. I love getting lost in the colors of a night coastal sky. I added a sliver moon in there too. I ran out of small square canvases, so I opted for the 5 by 7. Sometimes it’s fun to switch it up! I hope you enjoy this one and I hope you are staying healthy. Sending love your way! Xoxo
I couldn’t resist painting the moodiness of an evening sky over the coastline of Lane’s Island Preserve on Vinalhaven for today’s blue theme. Night skies and pine tree silhouettes next to the ocean never disappoint, although they never photograph that well either. Doh! Anyway, I’m sending love your way–may you stay healthy and bright. Xoxo
I love all colors, but green is at the top of my list. So, for today’s rainbow scavenger hunt painting I grabbed a few of my favorite green things and created a little still life: green plate, avocado and lime. I think it’s time for some guacamole! Be well, friends. Sending love and light your way.
Today’s color in the rainbow scavenger hunt is orange, so I painted a gorgeous bowl of clementines. So vibrant & so yummy! I know I should have planned better so that today’s color could have been green for Saint Patty’s day, but that’s just the way it goes … we’ll get to green soon enough! In any case, enjoy the bright colors and be well, friends. xoxo #theroygbivhunt
As you know, I am obsessed with Vinalhaven. As a painter, everything about that island calls to me, from the working harbor to the protected coves–it’s just a feast for my eyes. Here are a couple of new 6×6 paintings from different spots on the island. Hope you like them! Stay safe, friends! xo
