Pets & Pottery

Huckleberry 6×6 oil on canvas SOLD

At my potters wheel 🙂

I can’t believe January is coming to a close. Time certainly does fly when you are having fun … and aside from a week long nasty cold, I have been having fun! I have been busy with pet portraits and pottery and not much else. Yep, you heard me right–I said pottery. 🙂 I am taking a beginning pottery class at Portland Pottery and am having a blast. It’s fun to learn something new and to play with the clay. It’s so hard and requires a lot of focus, but I love how present I am with my time in the pottery studio and how meditative the process is. Actually, that’s what I love about making art in general. Here’s a pic of some recent throwing on the potters wheel and a couple of pet portraits too. Sending love & smiles to you! 🙂

Spring Point Summer

6×6 • oil on canvas • $95 • purchase link

I guess this week is lighthouse week. 🙂 I was scrolling through some pics and got stuck on a few summer ones. This view of Spring Point from Willard Beach is just awesome. I have painted this scene before an a larger scale, but couldn’t resist the cheer and warmth it offered as I looked out the window at falling snow.

Portland Headlight in Winter 1 & 2

Portland Head Light I • 8×8 • oil on canvas • SOLD
Portland Head Light II • 8×8 • oil on canvas • $135 • This painting is ON HOLD for A.G.

I haven’t painted the Head Light in awhile and it just called to me, so here are a couple of paintings from a winter walk. It really is such a beautiful and iconic lighthouse at any time of year. And the grounds at Fort William are so fun to stroll!

Dusk on the Hill

8×8 • oil on canvas • SOLD

The afternoons have been so dark, but those minutes after the sun sets are stunning on the Hill. I love this look down Congress Street towards town with the warm glow of the coffee shop and the sweet silhouette of Portland Observatory.

HAPPY 2020, friends! And thank you for a wonderful 2019!

Warm Winter Glow

6×6 • oil on canvas • $95

Happy New Year, Friends! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with your family & friends and that this new year is your most colorful yet!

Here’s a little painting that captures the tranquility of a still afternoon on Casco Bay as seen from the Eastern Prom–no wind, just cold air, warm light and beauty. We’re so lucky to get to witness these magical scenes in Portland. Cheer to many more in 2020!
