Here’s another painting from my Vinalhaven series. I was pedaling around the island and stumbled across this scenic harbor with lobster boats, islands, and coastal homes. It never gets old! :-). I had fun playing with colors and shapes in this painting.
NOTE: ART OPENING TOMORROW! I’m a huge fan of white line woodcuts and Blanche Lazzell in particular, so I decided to give the method a shot. Here is my Ferry Ride piece in honor of my little art show at the Dodwell Gallery on Long Island, Maine — my work is there through the end of the month. The white line woodcut method was a somewhat tedious and meditative process that I enjoyed. This is the only print I have done from the block, but I may do a few more. :-). Hop on the ferry & come join me for the reception on Long Island tomorrow, Saturday the 9th, from 11am-1pm. The gallery is located about a half a mile from the ferry terminal (and includes an uphill walk) to the Learning Center on Fern Avenue.
