Happy Day on the Coast

Happy Day on the Coast • 8×8 • oil on canvas • $135

This scene is from the Basin on Vinalhaven where we took our paddleboards for some seal searching & some swimming along the rocks.  It was a magical experience all around!  We had many seals follow us & pop their heads up to say hello & the swimming was exhilarating.

Morning Snow on the Hill

Morning Snow on the Hill • 6×6 • oil on canvas • $95

Surprise!  Yesterday we woke up to the most gorgeous snowfall.  The fluffy snow blanketed the neighborhood and collected on all of the branches and tree limbs.  I had heard we might get an inch or two, but to wake up to a light snow coming down and 6-7 inches already on the ground made me soooooo happy!  The peacefulness and beauty of it all was just what I needed.  Thank you, Mother Nature.  🙂

After the Snow, Munjoy St.

After the Snow, Munjoy St. • 5×5 • oil on canvas • $75

The fresh snow is so beautiful … even with 1/4 inch of ice on top.  :-). I was sitting in my studio looking out the window & decided I would paint my view.  My art desk sits against the window, looking out onto Congress & down Munjoy Street … such a charming winter scene, isn’t it?

Observatory by Night

Observatory by Night  • 5×5  • oil on canvas • $75

My favorite neighborhood landmark, the Portland Observatory.   It looks much like a lighthouse tower but was actually used to communicate the arrival of different ships via flags to the merchants along the waterfront.  It’s magical at any time of day, but I especially like it at night.

Snowfall at the River

Snowfall at the River • 6×6 • oil on canvas • $95

Today is mild & blustery, but we’d had several days in a row with light snowfall, which inspired this painting from a trail walk on a nearby river.  There is something so tranquil about walking in the woods  during a soft snowfall.

Richmond Island

Richmond Island • 5×5 • oil on canvas • $75

Just a little painting of one of my favorite nearby places.  A view of Kettle Cove from Richmond Island always takes my breath away.  One of my favorite ways to take in the view is from my bicycle … pedaling down to the park & seeing this does wonders for the spirit.
