The fall colors have been exquisite this year.  WOW!  Such a feast for the eyes.  I’ve been doing pet portraits all day & decided to get lost in the joy of this scene from earlier this year.  Enjoy!

Portland Sunrise

 Sunrise • 5×7 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I was working on some commission pieces this morning & decided to take a break to paint this spectacular sunrise I witnessed last month down near Ocean Gateway.  It was a magical moment & lots of fun to remember & paint on this frigid afternoon.

Maine – Tenants Harbor

Maine – Tenants Harbor • 9×12 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I just felt like painting Maine this morning.  So here you have Tenants Harbor, which for me, really captures the epitome of the Maine coast.  It’s such a scenic, off the beaten path, little harbor with the islands, the sailboats, lobster boats & lots of dories bobbing around.  Happiness.

Borestone Mountain

Borestone Mountain • 6×6 • oil on canvas • $95

I can’t help but think of Borestone Mountain at this time of year … it’s truly one of my favorite places to visit in late September or early October.  I adore the profile of the mountain & all of the trails that lead to scenic lookouts.  Ahhh!  We didn’t make it this year,  but it is on the books for next year & I can’t wait!

Autumn at Wolfe’s Neck Farm

Autumn at Wolfe’s Neck Farm • 5×7 • oil on canvas • SOLD

It’s chilly & clear here to day so I thought I’d go for a drive & check out the scenery.  I ended up at Wolfe’s Neck Farm in Freeport where I did some plein air painting in a winter coat, hat & gloves.  🙂  Chi;;y but gorgeous–I just love this spot & thought you would too.

Autumn Casco Bay

Autumn Casco Bay • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I was working on a larger piece in my studio this morning & decided to take a break & head out to the Eastern Prom for some fresh air & inspiration.  Autumn colors are appearing on the hill & the islands & I just love looking at it.  I never tire of this majestic view in my back yard.   I am a lucky girl to get to sit here & paint in the sunshine & sea breeze!  🙂

My Observatory at Night

My Observatory at Night • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I’m feeling grateful for my beautiful neighborhood today, so I thought I’d honor it with a little painting.  Here’s the Observatory that watches over the city, the bay & of course the hood.  Such a cool landmark … & it’s right outside my front door!

Marsh from Black Point Rd.

Marsh from Black Point Rd. • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I went for a bike ride this morning down Black Point Road in Scarborough & it was lovely.  The autumn colors were gorgeous & the chilly salt air was invigorating.  I didn’t stop to take any pictures, but I did make a few mental notes along my way.  Here’s a painting of the autumn marsh, down towards Scarborough Beach, from memory.  Sometimes it’s just plain fun to paint from memory.  🙂

APPLES • 8×8 oil on canvas • SOLD

We walked down to the Farmers’ Market today for some fresh produce & inspiration.  The Wednesday Market is Monument Square is so much fun … the colors are so joyful and the energy of the hustle & bustle is contagious.  We bought a bunch of yummy things, including some apples.  I love looking at the bushels of different varieties of apples lined up.  Now, what to make first … apple crisp or apple sauce?!
