Twilight at Owl’s Head Light

Twilight at Owl’s Head Light • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

Brrrrrrrrr!  We visited Owl’s Head on the 1st of January … it was such a bright, crisp, COLD winter’s day & a trip up the coast was a great way to kick off the New Year.  Even though the temps were in the single digits & the wind was whipping, we took a brisk walk up to Owl’s Head lighthouse right before dark.  It’s the cutest, tiniest lighthouse & it has such a big presence perched high up on a bluff overlooking the Rockland Harbor.  As pretty as is was, we were happy to get back in the warm car.  🙂

January Sunrise

January Sunrise on the Prom • 5×5 • oil on canvas • SOLD

I love winter sunrises.  I have witnessed quite  a few gorgeous ones this month & I just love to paint them.  Actually, I think I could paint this view at any time of day, every day.  The view from the Eastern Prom just speaks to me.  On this particular morning it was cold and still and so beautiful out!  It’s always such a gift to watch the sun come up.

Belted Galloways

Belted Galloways • 6×6 • oil on canvas • SOLD

On New Year’s day my partner & I took a scenic drive along the snowy coast of Maine and past the gorgeous Aldermere Farm in Rockport.  I had never explored this area in snow before–it was stunning–but I couldn’t help but flash back to Summer when the grass is green & the belted galloways roam the fields.  Mooo!!!!!!  And don’t worry, as soon as I catch up on my commission work there will be some snowscapes coming!
